We have set an ambitious target to halve our Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2050. Our Scope 1 and 2 emissions will be the easiest to reduce in the short term as we have direct control over these and our Scope 3 emissions will require a longer timeframe to tackle, and the milestones that we are developing will be both measurable and achievable. Our target is underpinned by our signature to the Net Zero Carbon Events Pledge that was submitted to COP26 in Glasgow, and which has also been signed by over 500 of our peers and stakeholders across the industry. As well, as commitment to achieving net zero by 2050, the pledge also commits us to:

  • Publishing our pathway
  • Collaborating with our partners, suppliers and customers to drive change across the value chain
  • Measuring and tracking our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions
  • Reporting on our progress

At World LNG Summit & Awards, we are committed to fostering sustainability throughout our event, and we encourage all attendees to join us in our sustainability mission. Here are some key guidelines to help you participate in creating a more sustainable event.

How we are getting there

Drawing on our industry association, UFI’s, reports and our own benchmarking studies, there are five key areas that we will be focused on addressing to achieve our targets:

Energy

Production & Waste

Food & Food Waste

Freight & Logistics

Travel

What can you do as an attendee

Utilise accommodation options within walking distance of the venue.

Utilise public transport if available or coordinate travel plans with colleagues to carpool to reduce carbon emissions.

Attend any sustainability talks to discover strategies and solutions for your industry.

Be mindful of waste disposal: use recycling bins and composting options if available.

Carry a reusable water bottle, coffee cup, and utensils to reduce single-use plastic waste.

What can you do as a sponsor

Utilise LED lights to conserve energy and reduce your stand's carbon footprint.

Consider eco-flooring options to cut down on wood waste.

Implement procedures to power down your stand during non-operational hours to save energy.

Choose reusable, sustainable materials for giveaways and corporate gifts instead of plastic bags.

Reuse bespoke elements of your stand and hire furniture to minimise resource consumption.

Place recycling bins on your stand to encourage proper waste sorting and reduction.

Embrace digital solutions to reduce paper waste and opt for recycled paper if printing is necessary.

Allow the organiser team to collect surplus printed materials for recycling.

Choose from sustainable menus and eco-friendly cutlery options provided by the venue.

Source materials and products locally to reduce transportation emissions and where possible opt for suppliers with sustainability certifications.

Develop a plan to reduce the environmental impact of your freight and logistics for example consolidate shipments, choose low-impact transport like electric vehicles and sea freight, and partner with sustainable logistics providers.
